LYFE Skills provides free tutoring and hands-on enrichment programs for students in grades K-8, helping them build academic confidence, strengthen essential skills, and discover new passions. Our afterschool program is all about making learning fun, using personalized methods to help every student succeed. From building knowledge to boosting confidence, we’re here to aid grades K through 8, making learning an exciting adventure for every child.

At LYFE Skills, we empower students to excel academically and beyond. Through personalized support, we instill confidence, ignite curiosity, and cultivate a lifelong love for learning, envisioning a brighter future for all.

ADDITIONAL ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

In addition to our personalized K–8 academic support, LYFE Skills offers advanced, hands-on enrichment programs that extend learning beyond the traditional classroom. These additional opportunities allow students to explore specialized subjects, apply their knowledge through practical activities, and develop valuable skills in creativity, innovation, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

Students can participate in exciting enrichment experiences such as Robotics, Engineering, Coding, Jewelry from Earth, Slime Science, Crime Scene Detectives, Clay Creations, and more. Each activity is thoughtfully designed to introduce new concepts in an engaging and age-appropriate way while encouraging curiosity, experimentation, and independent thinking.

Through these enriching experiences, students can discover new interests, strengthen their confidence, and gain skills that support both their academic development and future success, all within a safe, supportive, and engaging afterschool environment.

Format:

Students will be grouped in small sessions with a tutor-to-student ratio of 1:10, based on similar skill levels or learning needs.

Dates & Times:

Every Tuesday & Wednesday from 4 to 6:30 PM. (There is a possibility of extending classes to 7 pm during the school year with increased demand)

Pricing:

$25-$30/hour per child with the purchase of a monthly package ($30-$35 for a drop-in class)... Pricing depends upon grade level.

Class Length:

We offer tutoring sessions in 45 min - 1 hour increment. In addition, we offer 45-minute enrichment programming classes.

Do you assist students with learning differences?

Yes, our team provides comprehensive assistance for students with learning disabilities. We understand that every student has unique challenges, so our approach is highly personalized. Our experienced tutors are trained to work with a variety of learning disabilities, including ADHD, dyslexia, and processing disorders. We use specialized teaching strategies, tools, and resources designed to accommodate different learning styles. In addition, we collaborate closely with parents and, if needed, school educators to ensure consistent support across all learning environments. Our goal is to help students build confidence, develop effective learning skills, and reach their full academic potential.

Do you follow a structured curriculum?

Yes, we follow a structured curriculum aligned with Texas state standards to ensure that our tutoring sessions complement what students are learning in school. We stay up-to-date with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) guidelines to help students meet the expectations for their grade level. However, we also personalize our approach based on each student's individual needs, whether they require extra support with specific topics or are looking to get ahead. Our goal is to reinforce classroom learning while helping students achieve academic success.

Do you provide tutoring for gifted students or advanced learners?

Yes, LYFE Skills provides specialized tutoring for gifted students and advanced learners. Our personalized approach is designed to challenge students through advanced curriculum, enrichment activities, accelerated learning opportunities, and deeper exploration of subjects that align with their academic abilities and individual interests. Lessons are thoughtfully tailored to keep students engaged, intellectually stimulated, and motivated while helping them continue progressing towards their full potential.

In addition to personalized academic support, students can participate in exciting enrichment experiences such as Robotics, Engineering, Coding, Jewelry from Earth, Slime Science, Crime Scene Detectives, Clay Creations, and more.

What qualifications do your instructors have?

Church LYFE is excited to offer high-quality small-group tutoring services, thanks to the incredible talent within our community. We are blessed to have members who are fully credentialed teachers with 3 to 5 years of verified classroom experience, ensuring that students receive expert guidance. In addition to these skilled educators, our program includes para-professionals, retired teachers, and college students pursuing STEM-related degrees.

How do you assess the student’s learning needs?

We assess each student’s learning needs through a personalized process that includes an initial consultation, diagnostic testing, and a review of academic records. We also evaluate their learning style to tailor our teaching approach. With ongoing assessments and regular feedback from both the student and parents, we ensure the tutoring plan is constantly adjusted to support the student’s academic growth and success.
